How do you sew hexagon?

How do you sew hexagon? I found that many sewers use paper hexagon pattern. I use a plastic one like this:

I fold the corners and sew them together.

After that, I take out the plastic pattern and iron the hexagon. To sew two hexagons together, my first step is to put the needle in from the right hand corner like this:

and then i put the needle in and out like this:

when I sewed to the left end, i flipped the hexagons, so that the other hexagon facing myself. I put the needle in the one that is facing me like this, this step ensures the hexagon are sewn tight together.

and then I tie the knot

  2. I didn't know they made such a template for hexagons! I have used card stock ones for my projects, with the cutout i the centre for the pin -- my gramma showed me that many years ago. I always have a hand hex project on the go! Came to your blog from your post on facebook...
