How do you sew hexagon?
How do you sew hexagon? I found that many sewers use paper hexagon pattern. I use a plastic one like this:
I fold the corners and sew them together.
After that, I take out the plastic pattern and iron the hexagon. To sew two hexagons together, my first step is to put the needle in from the right hand corner like this:
and then i put the needle in and out like this:
when I sewed to the left end, i flipped the hexagons, so that the other hexagon facing myself. I put the needle in the one that is facing me like this, this step ensures the hexagon are sewn tight together.
This is the front:

Two Cushions
Chinese New Year is coming!! We will have 4 days off in a row from Saturday to next Tuesday. I took 2 days annual leaves so I start my holiday earlier. What have I done in the past two days? You can see from the above pictures, Cushion!!! You know, hexagon has to be sewn by hands so my fingers are feeling a bit numb after intense sewing for 2 days. I wanted to finish the pillow so badly so I kept sewing and sewing. I'm so glad that it turned out well, the combination of red and green is always safe. I feel very satisfied.
I like the touch of the patchwork, so vivid!! This is listed in my etsy shop.
and i made a small, simple pin cushion with the Atsuko Matsuyama linen fabric. I love it.

Deer Applique and Embroidery
My friend just gave me an Adobe Creative Suite 4. I watched several tutorials about Illustrator on youtube and tried to draw some simple things myself. I drew a deer and made an appliqué with embroidery. Isn't it cute and lovely? It's quite small, around 6cm x 6cm. I've put the pattern on my etsy shop. Check it out if you are interested.
My First Middle-sized Quilt
My first project for 2012 is a middle-sized quilt. I have been envisioned this quilt for several months. Finally I started to cut the squares on Monday. It took me a week's time to finish this. The trim is time consuming to make so I'm thinking to buy some trims instead of making it myself. This will be a cover for my printer.
I am a novice in making quilt and square patchwork. Some squares are bigger while some are smaller, making the lines do not match. You can see that on the top right corner. Is there any technique to make sure the lines match with each other?

Drawstring Bag with Pink Hexagon Patchwork
Happy New Year!! Finally we are in 2012, so many speculations about this year so let's enjoy everyday and live life to the full. Do and eat what you like!
If you are a follower of my blog, you'll know I love making this kind of drawstring bag. This is the first one I listed in my Etsy shop. It's so fun to make hexagon patchwork and I always think it goes well with linen. It's only $5, grab it before it's gone!!
This bag measures approximately 11cm (W) x 17cm (H), i.e. 4.3" (W) x 6.6" (H). It helps to organize the little things in your bag, such as cosmetics, headphones, napkins, tissue paper, etc. This also makes perfect gift for girls. Hope you like it.
